THE WONDERS OF 'MAD MAX: FURY ROAD'
Here with my thoughts and opinions on the motion picture of 'Mad Max: Fury Road' and the various achievements that this film production has accomplished, both and the technical details. Director George Miller and crew did have a full scale job with shooting this motion picture on digital, some shots were shot with the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. The color palette and the framing of each shot could be turned into a still image. And the full use of practical effects and stunt work for movie with a $150,000,000 budget.
The genius of this production was that the amount of time it took for this film to come and the amount of obstacles that it went through to get into production due to the locations and the budget. It was a long journey and with seeing the finish production and the amount of work in every frame. When a car, tanker or vehicle in general flips, it is not computer generated. It is an actual vehicle on the set that has been flipped over with the passengers / stuntmen inside and/or top of the vehicle being tossed in the air.
'Mad Max: Fury Road' does what film is said to do which is, "Show me, don't tell me." This film is 2 hours in length and I would say 90% of the film is action and 10% dialogue. There is a lot of imagery that is shown that does have explanations behind it but it leaves you to wonder and you are able to fill in the blanks as to why such things exist. There isn't a form of dialogue that explains the history behind the War Boys, Immortan Joe, The Wives, Max or Furiosa. You don't have a history lesson being spoon fed to you from an elder character about how long The Citadel has been in existence or how did Immortan Joe come into power to be considered a deity in the eyes of the survivors.
Instead the film shows the audience that civilization as primitive as it may be in the film have a culture and technology and a means of surviving. The makeup the Warboys wear and the illness that they carry in there bodies as well as the warpaint in general and uniformity all of them being bald and hairless was another added feature about the society of the Citadel. The use of silver spray paint was another added feature of their war-like culture. There were things that were shown and not explained but were left for you to imagine and wonder and added to the mystique of the story as a whole.
Characters interactions between Furiosa, Mad, Nux and the Wives was very good. For the amount of dialogue that was shared it was used in a proper manner. There was never a backstory as to how these characters came to be. It was focused on their objectives and trying to survive in the world and coexist with one another with what little time that they have with one another.
The main thing about this motion picture that I loved was the simplicity of it. It had a very straight forward plot and there were layers underneath it but never tried to overwhelm the audience with exposition. Definitely was a ride and enjoyed it.
Thanks for reading.
