Hello everyone! J Dubbs (Xobehtedistuo - Outside the Box) here with my top 5 films of 2011 as we start of the new year. I was supposed to have this posted early this week but I delayed myself due to thinking this through and I definitely have been thinking about this without a doubt and definitely hope that you can enjoy my choices for films and please know that my views are different from my comrades and that we were both at the cinema when we saw these films! Hey gang, Bearovingian here. We here at MediaBlackout have varying views on certain topics. Politics, religion, Modern Warfare 3 vs. Battlefield 3, what is the cooler exotic pet: Ferrets or Alpacas? But mostly we debate movies, so we've decided to post our own top 5 favorite movies of the year. Only movies that we have seen theatrically and have charted in the U.S. Box Office. SUPER 8 SUPER 8 is one of those movies that if you're a movie buff takes you back to when you watched movies as a kid and it made you feel invested. Directed by J.J. Abrams it was a tribute to the Spielberg films of the 80's like E.T., The Goonies, etc. Starring a cast of young actors, the film takes place in a small town in the late 70's. High resolution photos have been released online for ' The Dark Knight Rises ' which provide more of a closer look at the detail in the upcoming film and to see more of our protagonist and his nemesis, Bane.

This week was the world premiere of the trailer for ' The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey ' in theaters December 14, 2012 and we are now being treated to the fifth production video that goes into detail about the locations and rebuilding Hobbiton as well as seeing familiar faces of Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins. And at the end of the video we are treated with a nice year end message by Peter Jackson and the cast and crew of ' The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey .' Enjoy.

The first official trailer for Ridley Scott's ' Prometheus ' has been released online and it definitely delivers on the themes that the director had been informing us about over the time while he was filming. Definitely looks to be a hardcore scifi film. It opens in theaters on June 8, 2012 and was shot in 3D and will be released in IMAX 3D, RealD 3D and traditional 2D. Definitely check out this trailer and let the anticipation begin! SYNOPSIS: Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. We are a year away from seeing this film but on December 14, 2012, ' The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey ' with the story that started the Lord of the Rings Trilogy . Peter Jackson returns to the director's chair for this two part film and has shot it in 3D 60fps (frames per second). This looks to be an excellent and we see some of the returning cast members in the trailer as well and of course, The Hobbit is the setup for previous owner of the ring. Gollum. Enjoy!

The wait is over! Last weekend those who had the chance to see ' Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows ' in theaters were treated to seeing the theatrical trailer for ' The Dark Knight Rises ' before the film started. The trailer was scheduled to be released on 12/20/11 but it seems as though it has been released a day in advance. Whatever the reason, we are happy to see this trailer is officially online. The new teaser poster for ' The Dark Knight Rises ' has arrived and showcases a shattered cowl of Batman in the foreground and Bane in the background as the main threat! This leaves many fans to believe that it could be hinting to what happens to Batman during a battle with Bane. Next summer is going to be insane when this film is released.

Here is the new poster for the upcoming film ' The Amazing Spider-Man ' in theaters July 3, 2012, The tagline says 'The Untold Story' and it makes you wonder what does Marc Webb has in store for us next summer.

Coming to theaters on May 25, 2012 is the third installment of ' Men In Black 3 ' in both 2D and 3D.

In theaters February 10, 2012, 'Safehouse' deals with a criminal (Denzel Washington) is being held at a safehouse that has been compromised and has to be moved to another secure location by the facilities house-sitter (Ryan Reynolds). Definitely looks like a winner. Enjoy.

The second domestic trailer for ' The Adventures of Tintin ' is online and definitely continues to sell the films production further. Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson definitely are a winning combination to have done this film collaboration. In theaters December 23, 2011

January 20, 2012 is the return with the fourth installment with ' Underworld: Awakening ' in both 2D and RealD 3D. This new trailer gives much more insight and more detail from the previous trailer and definitely looks like it is returning to the core plot of the first installment but this time it looks as though there is a third threat, the humans. Looks like an interesting plot. Enjoy.

The first full trailer has been released for ' The Hunger Games ' and it definitely sells the film! Looks like March 23, 2012 is going to be a very big day for this adaptation! Definitely has my interest and I hope that you enjoy this trailer!

Coming to IMAX and theaters on December 16, 2011, the theatrical trailer has been released for ' Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol ' and definitely grows on from the teaser trailer that was released a few months ago. The entire cast looks to be excellent and the films looks to be intense and definitely has my interest. The technology that is being used in this film also has my interest big time. Definitely take the time to watch and enjoy this trailer.

In theaters on February 17, 2012, "This Means War' starring Chris Pine, Reese Withersppon and Tom Hardy!

In theaters on February 3, 2012, ' Chronicle ' focuses on the story of three kids all having unique superpowers and one decision that will have an effect on many. The cinematography is reminiscent of ' Cloverfield ' as well as the beginning of ' District 9 ' but the trailer definitely shows the potential of the story and it definitely drives home that this film has something to offer as far as the making of a good character conflict among the three friends.

Ladies and gentlemen! The film of the summer has arrived as of last Friday. The Charles Theatre has screenings and showtimes of the film Attack The Block . Make no mistake that this is the film that must be seen in theaters. I can not stress to anyone how powerful the story is for this film. It is one of the top films of 2011 in my own personal opinion! We have our hit films during the summer from Transformers: Dark of the Moon , Captain America: The First Avenger and everything that has been a given to be successful but here is a film that is completely underground in it's approach and it definitely sells the characters and the plot and the story as a whole. Hot on the web is the new fanfilm entitled ' Portal: No Escape ' based of the video game ' Portal ' This fanfilm was directed by Dan Trachtenberg and stars Danielle Rayne. Definitely is a winning short film. Enjoy it and share it with your friends. This is an excellent short!

New film from director Roman Polanski starring John C. Reilly, Chistoph Waltz, Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster that centers around two sets of parents deciding to have a civilized meeting after their two sons were involved in a schoolyard brawl. This trailer definitely shows the level of drama and comedy that is going to be play throughout this film. Based off a play from Yasmina Reza, ' Carnage ' hits theaters December 16, 2011.

Director Shawn Levy talks about the story and plot of the characters of 'Real Steel' as well as the cast and seeing the motion capture process and learning that professional boxer Sugar Ray Leonard was in charge of choreographing the fight scenes. February 17, 2012 ' Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance ' arrives in theaters. Nicholas Cage reprises his role as Johnny Blaze and this time is hiding out in Eastern Europe when he is called upon to stop his nemesis from taking human form.

In theaters November 4, 2011, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas looks to be as funny as it's predecessors. The film takes place six years after the events of the 2nd film with Harold and Kumar burning down Harold's father-in-law's Christmas tree. The trailer is actually funny! Enjoy!

In theaters December 2, 2011 Coriolanus by William Shakespeare is the directorial debut of actor Ralph Fiennes who also acts in the film. The story is in a modern time but the dialogue remains the same from the Shakespeare play. This looks to be epic just by the way the trailer has been edited. Enjoy!

Here is a new trailer for the film ' 50/50 ' in theaters on September 30, 2011. This new trailer definition provides a lighter side of the film but also deals with the dramatic ramifications of having to deal with having cancer. Joseph Gordon-Levitt looks to deliver another solid performance.

In theaters January 20, 2012 the fourth installment of Underworld is being released. Kate Beckinsale reprises her role as Selene for the Underworld: Awakening 3D.

Here is the Red-Band trailer for ' The Sitter ' and it is NSFW. The trailer has an intro with Jonah Hill talking with a group of kids before the trailer begins. But this red-band trailer has a new beginning that definitely was not included in the green-band trailer.

I don't know what makes this trailer enjoyable. Is it the various clips and humor? Is it the fact that they are playing "Ante Up" by M.O.P. in the background? Or is it a combination of both? But all in all, this looks to be a funny film. I can not help but sense a bit of similar themes from ' Adventures in Babysitting ' but ' The Sitter ' looks to be comedic. In theaters December 9th, 2011.

Here is the official first look of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises' in theaters July 20, 2012. She appears to be riding on the Batcycle when can give us an idea of what's to come in the film. Or it could just be something for promotional use. But here it is ladies and gentleman. Here is the first official photograph of Henry Cavill in full costume as Superman for Zack Snyder's ' Man of Steel ' scheduled for Summer 2013. Opening this Friday 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' There has been another featurette that has been released. This featurette deals with the work that WETA has done on the apes and progress that has been made since Avatar.

In theaters December 23, 2011 ' The Darkest Hour ' a sci-fi film that deals with a group of five young people that are trapped in Moscow during an alien invasion. This teaser trailer definitely is a very excellent trailer. Definitely gives the depth of a new take on the concept of an alien invasion. Starring Emile Hirsch ( Taking Woodstock, Speed Racer ) and Olivia Thrilby( The Wackness ), Minghella and Rachael Taylor ( Transformers ). In theaters in 2D and Real D 3D.

Here is the deleted opening scene from Superman Returns that shows Superman returning to Krypton! Very cool scene that did not make the final cut.

Still images that were captured from the Comic-Con presentation of Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' have surfaced online. The images show Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender and the various sets that are very detailed and layered. Definitely has a lot of depth and production value and it shows that Ridley Scott has a classic sci-fi in the making.
