NON SPOILER REVIEW OF 'STAR WARS: BLOODLINES'

Hello Everyone,

Wanted to take the time to share my thoughts in a non spoiler way for the novelization of the 'Star Wars: Bloodline' by author Claudia Gray. The novel I found to have a very position in offering more detail and insight into my views on watching 'Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens' and gives much needed backstory to help cover some of the information that I was wondering about as far as the set up of the plot for some of our main characters, both protagonists and antagonists. The purpose of this blog is to share as much of thoughts on the novel without spoiling any of the details moving forward as best as humanly possible. There are small tidbits that are to be broken down by nothing more than general information needed to help set up where the novel is taking place in the timeline of the story leading into the film.

To begin, the novel is set six years before the events of 'The Force Awakens' and we find our main protagonist in Leia Organa, whom has become very hard-bitten and cynical about the workings of the New Republic, mostly in how the Senate has been operating. She has almost lost faith in the ideals that began once the Empire was defeated completely and the New Republic was formed. Leia has been trying to find her motivation and see that there is still hope for the future of the Senate. The novel is peppered with a large variety of characters that only add to the plot, some of which I found to be favorites throughout the reading of the book. The small character moments and their backstory and revelations only added to the books progression as the plot moved forward and you learned about the state of the galaxy and what have some of our familiar friends been doing with their lives and the journeys and quest we discover through Leia's perspective and how she is trying to stay in touch with them as best as possible.

The book does delve into some of the essential elements that lead us into 'Episode VII' without giving any spoilers but there are two main characters that are quite often reference hard that Leia has been constantly concerned and worried about that she is has been trying to get into contact with and they are not reachable. But the beauty is that elements adds so much mystique that you as the read are left with a grand idea of building your own ideas up of what those characters are up to and how things lead into the film and what has occurred or changed for them in their lives. Definitely was something that every time they were mentioned it added much mystery and had my mind thinking of possible explanations of what those character could be up to. Something that would require an extensive blog posting about the various details of the book for those who read the novel and wanted to share and read if we were both on the same page as far as sharing ideas about what the journey is for those characters. But 'Bloodlines' heart lies in the interactions with all of our main and side characters. Every single person has a part to play and no one is just there for filler at all. Everyone has a pivotal role in the book and that is what makes it work great.

In conclusion, I only hope to shed light on such a fantastic book and that it was a well invested read. Something that added to the lore and I may have to do a spoiler review of the novel down the road but I want this book to be read by many whom are both fans of Star Wars or individuals whom would like to know the backstory that helps enrich the movie experience and changes your views on 'The Force Awakens.' Until then, thanks for reading and keep coming back.

Sincerely,
J
